By the way, I
recently watched again Eric Rohmer’s adaptation of Kleist’s Marquise von O. I
see the film as a tribute on the part of civilisation – Rohmer had so civilised
a sensibility that I am surprised he made any headway in the film world – to the
mystery of genius.
